  • How: What methods are you planning on using? (performance, design, lecture series, etc.)

*   Please contribute one or more items to each of the following lists: individuals & organizations, materials & supplies, themes, lexicon.
*  As you are thinking about what to contribute to each of those lists, think of a place that might provide inspiration for a site-specific project. That place could be--
  • geographically "small" (such as something that would fit into a city block, garden, or building); 
  • geographically "medium in size" (such as a city
  • geographically "larger" (such as a region, e.g. the Great Lakes Region, Appalachia, Florida Everglades, etc.)

Individuals & Organizations
Write down the name of one or more individuals or organizations whose work (as it pertains to place) is particularly inspiring to you. That could be an artist (Annea Lockwood, Robert Smithson, etc.), etc.

Please write down examples of materials and supplies that you might use -- as you explore how you could articulate a project that pertains to some aspect of the Great Lakes (or some other geographical location that you want to explore).

  • Participants contribute ideas to lists that pertain to the following categories: materials for art making, audience,
  • Great Lakes Ensemble's recent work, including a skyped talk with two of GLE's principals -- Lisa LaMarre and James Cornish.
  • Participants share examples of items they contributed to the lists.
  • We talk about examples of scores that have been used -- including written and graphic scores.
  • Everyone works alone or in groups to sketch out ideas for a project that would explore several of a place's dynamics.
