Woody Guthrie is an American original, a prolific songwriter who recorded hundreds of songs and composed thousands of more songs that haven't been recorded yet. His example helped to define what we think of as the singer-songwriter who wrote songs on a guitar.

Woody Guthrie centennial celebrations are happening throughout 2012, and it's remarkable to think about how his life and work can inspire teachers and students. His legacy seems to be more relevant as time goes by.

Here are several Woody Guthrie-related resources that educators could use --
  • Curriculum on the Woody Guthrie Foundation website (for language arts, music, science, math, art, social studies and other subjects)
  • The Folklife Center at the Library of Congress (recordings, books, letters and more)
  • The Old Town School of Folk Music's Resource Center (songbooks and audio recordings)

Check back soon for more updates. If you have any suggestions about other resources that could be included here, please let us know. Thanks!
