Here are some things you can do now to develop your writing & prepare for a career in writing:
  • Establish good writing habits. Write every day!
  • Think about your reading habits. Who are your favorite writers? You can research your favorite writers' influences and read some books by those writers who have influenced those writers.
  • Get involved with a writing community. Does your school publish any literary journals? Are there any online communities that you can get involved with?
  • Get published!
  • Research colleges and universities that offer degrees that relate to reading and writing: Literature, Creative Writing, Journalism, etc.
